Project #1 & Blog Candy: How do you use your scraps?

We have a winner!

Congratulations!  I will email you at dbjb1519 at yahoo dot com

Hello! Thanks for stopping by!

This posting is my first installment of my blog candy series!  I'm excited that you took a moment to visit with me.

Ok, here's how it works -
In the comments field, let me 1) know your thoughts on my project, 2)  answer the question "How do you use your scraps?" include your blog linking a project you've made using scraps and 3) leave your name and email address so that I can reach you in the event that you're the winner.

If I reach 56 followers by the 28th, I will be giving away a few Cricut cartridges!

Ok, now onto this project -
The wife of my childhood Pastor has been in the hospital in very serious condition for about 2 months.  I wanted to create a card that did not say "Get Well Soon" or "Thinking of  You."  She would also say, when you don't know what to say, say "hello!".  So, this card says just that!

I wanted bright and lively colors.  My challenge to myself was just to use my scraps.  So I dug in my scrap bin and this is what I made!

The sentiment is created using the Wild Card cartridge.  I've included a few bright Prima flowers, can't go wrong with Prima's!  The flowers are secured together with a brad from Michael's and glued to the card with a pop dot.  The border punch is by Fiskars.

The Project:  A bright cheery greeting card made from scraps!
Blog Candy #1:  Super Cute Jewel and Pearl Brads from American Crafts.  Also include is a set of Pearl Brads.

  1. Your card is super cheerful. I love the colors. It's guaranteed to bring a smile recipient's face. I use scraps (ribbon & paper) daily. Here's a card I made from scraps http://lorie-thepeddler.blogspot.com/2010/10/thanksgivings-on-its-way.html

  3. That card will surely put a smile on her face. I keep all my scraps in a Memory Mate file made by Creative Memories sorted by color. It makes it very easy to find just the color I am looking for so I use my scraps alot. I don't have a blog. Kellymainmainkelly@yahoo.com

  4. Very pretty. I usually try to use everything from a layout I make for a matching card. I really haven't used much recently but try to as much as possible. Maybe I will try something this week and post soon at http://createbyburffrau.blogspot.com

I love the American Crafts and those brads are so adorable. I use my scraps for swaps and cricut cuts mostly. Thanks for a chance to win blog candy!!

  7. Scraps seem to pile up, but I have been on a roll making cards lately and they have so come in handy for just that perfect piece to finish off a design. With scraps its so easy to get lots of color and splash since they are all layed out in front of me! Your card is lovely and bright....

  8. those brads are so pretty love the creamy colors. your card just pops with color.pink and orange look so great together. the flowers just make it so cheery. i use my scraps all the time but definitely need to organize them better.i love to create things with punches so that allows u to use your smallest of scraps. i made beautiful cardinals on some of my christmas cards with my bird punch and a couple of great cards with my owl punch. larger scraps are used for mats, titles, die cuts.and of course there are always inchies, twinchies, and twinchies. my yet to try use of scraps is making homemade paper...one of these days....carol

  10. To start, I simply love your card, the colors say HELLO and are so cheerful, what a great card to brighten anyone's day!
Oh, I use my scraps on everything, my latest project (LO for a challenge) I used scrap ribbons for the tags, little scraps were used for the letters and the tags, and the little crab and starfish! I would not survive without my scraps.
I am a new follower of your blog.

  11. Your card is bright and cheery. I really like the colors and the flowers. I have to admit that I am really bad about using my scraps even tho I have two pizza boxes full of them. I have been trying to use them more, especially when I am making cards. Here is a card I made using only scraps for a FNC challenge on SOC.
