At first glance, you may think this challenge is all about babies . . . but look again! Project #6: Valentine's Day and Blog Candy

Congratulations!  We have a winner!

I will email you!

Project #6:

February is one of my favorite months.

Why you might ask?

Well, because it is the birth month of me and my brother!  It's the shortest month of the year, so it's unique.  It's Black History month.  Within the month we have at least 2 recognized holidays, Valentine's Day and President's Day!  I think that's a lot of activity for one small month, don't you?

If you'd like to learn a little more about Valentine's Day, here's an interesting article:
http://www.theholidayspot.com/valentine/history_of_valentine.htm

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by to offer comments and enter for a chance to win some blog candy.
We are in the home stretch and I have to warn ya, it will be a wee bit tougher to enter to win.

So before we get to the rules for this blog candy, let's talk about the projects, some are finished and there is one that I need your help on.

Projects:

The cards below were created using my Design Studio and mostly the Love Struck cartridge.  The rust colored card was created using the hide feature on my Design Studio (I honestly forget what cartridge I used!)  I added various bling such as brads, iRoc gems, 3-D stickers, heart confetti, ink, heart ornaments, ribbon etc to make the cards a bit more exciting.  They are intended to be on the less complicated side because we will be using these to show new scrapbookers how to make cards.

Ok, I need your help - I wanted to make a non-traditional Valentine's Day card. I started out with brown cardstock with a teal and white ribbon.  Then I got stuck.  When applying for the blog candy, please make recommendations as to how I can complete my card.  If you recommend a Cricut cut, please name the cartridge and the cut

This is a paper bag album my friend's daughter gave to me.  It's it adorable?  She is a beautiful young and talented lady!

Need your help, please suggest how I should finish this card.  See notes above!

Blog candy:

For all of this weeks give-a-ways, you MUST be a follower of my blog.  This is a blanket statement for the reminder of the week!
(It's easy, Google offers a free account.  I believe you can sign in via Yahoo also and some other places.)

In your comments, please let me know how I can complete my brown card.  Please include specific product references, if you can.  Or, specific cartridge and related cut names as well.  Be creative!!!

Also, be sure to include your email address.  I'll need to know how to contact you when you win!!  I will notify the winners by the 30th of the month via email.  They will have 3 days to respond to me with their mailing address.  I want to be sure to get these packages out to you quickly!

To help you get jump started on your Valentine's Day projects, the blog candy is a paper pack from DCWV, rub-on letters from Heidi Grace, some cute heart ornaments and some heart glitter.

Project #5 and Blog Candy: Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Congratulations!  We have a winner!

I will email you at lauermaa@gmail.com.

Project #5 and Blog Candy.

I saw inspiration over at the Circut Circle MB's for this project.  I can't remember who posted the card using the snowman so I can't give proper credit (sorry!).  For this project, I wanted to challenge myself to create a fun LO using printed paper, a new Cricut Cartridge, which for me is Winter Frolic, old Cricut Cartridge, Doodlecharms and When It's Cold Outside and my ol' reliable GBS cartridge.  I also wanted to incorporate the Diamond Dust that I used on my Christmas Glass block project.

Once I got started, this project came together fairly easily and was alot of fun.  I enlisted my Design Studio (prefer it over my Gypsy) to size the snowflakes from When It's Cold Outside and snowman from Doodlecharms and the sentiment from Winter Frolic.  I also used DS to easily create my mats using George and Basic Shapes.  I basted the snowman and snowflakes with glue from my Zig pen (I prefer the chisel tip) and then dusted the Diamond Dust over it to give it a glistening effect. The gems on the snowman are adhered using my iRoc tool.  I glued rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes to give it some bling.  The sentiment is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and highlighted with chalk from Then Stencil Collection. Volia!!

The Blog Candy:
Do deviate from the Love Theme for just one second - I thought I'd share with you some items to correspond with this project!  For the lucky winner, I am sharing a sample size of the Diamond Dust and a cute winter stamp that was so cute, I bought two for I could share one!  (the stamp is used, but it's in great shape.)

For this give-a-way, please be sure to follow my blog, leave a comment letting me know about your "Cold Outside" layouts or projects.  The way the crazy weather has been, we all probably have more stories to tell than we would like.  If you have a blog, please link it as well.

If we hit 56 followers by this Friday, stay tuned for Cricut Cartridge give-a-ways!

Layout using Cricut Cartridges:  Doodle Charms, Winter Frolic and When It's Cold Outside

Sentiment:  Let it Snow - embossed and chalked then dusted.

My version of Frosty!

I'd rather have paper snow flakes than real ones!
Blog candy:  Sample jar of Diamond Dust and All Bundled Up Stamp (used, but super cute!)

Project #4 and Blog Candy: Trying something new!

Congratulations we have a winner!

I will email you at wjiharris at yahoo dot com
I'm asking all winners to respond by Tuesday of this week so their prizes can be mailed ASAP!

For project #4, I wanted to try something new. I issued a challenge to myself and I had to use what I had on hand to try something new.  Well, being that I often "buy before I try", it wasn't hard to go into my stack and look for something new to explore.  lol

My ingredients I came up with are all from K&Company (it just happened that way - trust me it wasn't planned!)  I used an embellishment kit, a printed tag, printed chipboard letters and a colored transparency to create this project.  The "LOVE" letters are popped out with foam dots.

Let me know what you think!

Blog Candy:

The blog candy for this will be two packages for chipboard accents by Lucky You.  The first photo is the picture of the chipboards in the first package.  They are all actually pretty large.

Project #3 & Blog Candy: Sharing the Wealth! (Well, sharing embossed paper)

Congratulations!  We have a winner!!

I will email you at fasloan@yahoo.com

Project #3 and Blog Candy

From time to time, I participate in swaps.  These are mostly hosted on the Cricut message boards.  For the most part, they go according to plan!

One of my latest swaps was for embossed papers.  What a great idea to not only to get more embossed paper but also get a jump start on making cards.  I originally had 2 spots in the swap and angel'd a third spot.  Since I had so many spots, I had 3x as many duplicate items.  I figured I'd share the wealth of embossed papers with my Scraps of Color sistas.

Below is a picture of one of the packets I'll be mailing out to an SOC sister.

I am making a card to go along with the packets and the ladies from Forever Young will be on the card.  I had the ladies lined up on my work station and snapped a quick picture of them.

Blog Candy:
I'm giving away a card pack from The Stencil Company and a pack of super cute pens to go with it.

To enter for the blog candy, tell me what you like to share with others when crafting - it could be a physical item or just your love of the hobby.  If you have any projects that you've made from something that you have been given, please feel free to link your project.  Be sure to include your email address for me so I know how to get ahold of you in the event your the winner.  You must leave a comment on the blog candy entries to  be a winner for that give-a-way.

Also, remember, if we get up to 56 followers by the 28th, I have Cricut cartridges to give away!  Another one just arrived in today's mail.  The cartridges are all new and include the Cricut rewards points.  Now, tell me who doesn't love a free cartridge?!?

Thanks for stopping by!!

This is a great assortment of embossed papers that I'll be sending to four of my SOC sisters
I'm in the the process of making cards for my SOC sisters.  These Forever Young ladies will be featured on the cards.  They reminded me of a line up for brides maids.  Hmmmm, maybe a future LO in mind?!?!

Blog Candy #3 - The Stencil Company card pack and Michael's pens.  (maybe I'll throw in some embossed paper too!)

Project #2 & Blog Candy: Use What You Have!

Congratulations!  We have a winner!

Congratulations!  I will email you at Craftywhimsyone at live dot com

This is project #2.  Stay tuned for available Blog Candy!

For this project, the challenge I issued to myself was to "use what I had" and also incorporated a time challenge.  Who hasn't needed a quick card on the fly?  lol

I've participated in quite a few swaps over on the Cricut Message Boards.  My focus was to use some Cricut Cuts that I've received from various swaps, but I wanted to keep the Love theme going.  So for the next three projects, you'll see mostly items that have been provided to me via swaps.

In replying to this post, please 1) feel free to comment on my projects - I love the feedback!  2) I've "heard" crafters referred to as "hoarders", please comment on how you will work to "use what you have" in 2011 and 3)  If you have a link to your blog of a specific project, that's cool too!  Please include your email address in the comments section so I know how to contact you, in the event you are the winner!

As far as this blog candy goes, I am offering the "Elegant" Package by K& Company.  This package has beautiful embellishments that would be great with you Valentine's day projects or even a wedding project.  I am also giving away 1 package of 24 pearl embellishments from Michael's.

Be sure to stop by Project #1 that I posted the other day.  It also has blog candy attached to it.

This project incorporates 3 swap items:  the Embossed Paper, the Ribbon and the Interlocking Hearts embellishment with the scalloped edges.  In the photo, the paper looks purple (to me) it it is actually a darker pink.
This project incorporates 4 swap items:  Embossed Paper,  the Butterfly, Ribbon and the glitter "Love" sentiment
This project incorporate 2 swap items:  The Love Stamp and the red A2 sized cardstock.

Blog Candy:  The blog candy for Project #2 is a package of  assorted K&Company embellishments from their "Elegant" collection.  This is a really beautiful collection and could be used for a wedding theme or upcoming Valentine's Day!
Blog Candy:  what is Valentine's Day without some pearls to top everything off?

Project #1 & Blog Candy: How do you use your scraps?

We have a winner!

Congratulations!  I will email you at dbjb1519 at yahoo dot com

Hello! Thanks for stopping by!

This posting is my first installment of my blog candy series!  I'm excited that you took a moment to visit with me.

Ok, here's how it works -
In the comments field, let me 1) know your thoughts on my project, 2)  answer the question "How do you use your scraps?" include your blog linking a project you've made using scraps and 3) leave your name and email address so that I can reach you in the event that you're the winner.

If I reach 56 followers by the 28th, I will be giving away a few Cricut cartridges!

Ok, now onto this project -
The wife of my childhood Pastor has been in the hospital in very serious condition for about 2 months.  I wanted to create a card that did not say "Get Well Soon" or "Thinking of  You."  She would also say, when you don't know what to say, say "hello!".  So, this card says just that!

I wanted bright and lively colors.  My challenge to myself was just to use my scraps.  So I dug in my scrap bin and this is what I made!

The sentiment is created using the Wild Card cartridge.  I've included a few bright Prima flowers, can't go wrong with Prima's!  The flowers are secured together with a brad from Michael's and glued to the card with a pop dot.  The border punch is by Fiskars.

The Project:  A bright cheery greeting card made from scraps!
Blog Candy #1:  Super Cute Jewel and Pearl Brads from American Crafts.  Also include is a set of Pearl Brads.

Love's in the Air!

Hello Everyone!
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday!  For those that have been snowed in for the week, hope your time was filled with making beautiful crafts!

In 2011, I haven't spent nearly enough time as I would like at my craft table.  I did get some quick cards made for my display board at JoAnn's.  I'm just getting started in this adventure and my Education Coordinator there has been great!  These are idea cards for a children's Valentine's workshop.  They are die cuts from K & Company and they are simply adorable!

Probably later this week, I'll post more Valentine's Day projects and some blog candy, too!  If I reach 56 followers by Friday, the blog candy will include Cricut cartridges!  We'll see how it goes!

Thanks for looking!

This project was created using a JoAnn's project card.  All the cuts are from Plantin School Book.

The Card Feature on Plantin Schoolbook

Hello and Happy New Year!

I hope your holidays were beautifully blessed and Santa delivered lots of crafty treasures to you!

I'm SO excited!  I just created my first card using the PBS card and envelope feature.  (I've only had PBS the WHOLE time I've had my Cricut!)  Yes, I'm a little slow and I didn't know the trick about putting the Cricut on "Fit to Page" so I was cutting teeny tiny envelopes (basically the size of gift cards) when my "E" was set to 5 inches but the card was cutting normally.  Well, I can't leave a mystery unsolved!  Thank goodness for other folks blogs and You Tube!

So, now that I'm running late. . I'll have to post the card later!  I just had to share my excitement with folks who would truly understand!  lol

Have a great day!
